About Us
Nestled in the beautiful, natural surroundings of the Pocono Mountains in Northeastern Pennsylvania, the Jewish Fellowship of Hemlock Farms (JFHF) has been the center of Jewish life in Pike County for over 40 years. As an unaffiliated non-profit religious organization, we are comprised of families and individuals who foster and pursue the rituals, customs, and joys of Judaism, regardless of current or prior practice and/or affiliation. Our membership encompasses those from Reform, Reconstructionist, Conservative, Orthodox, and secular traditions, including full-time residents, weekenders, and snowbirds.
The Fellowship offers the ability to celebrate Shabbat, the Festivals, High Holy days, and all life-cycle events of the Jewish calendar, or simply to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Jews. Our rabbi and committees offer programming for all ages, finding avenues of learning and discussion through cultural and social events, movies, and speakers on topics of Jewish interest, all of which enhance living amid the rural beauty of the Poconos.
Hemlock Farms is a unique, closely knit community. Contributing to this environment is the Fellowship's proud tradition of participation in numerous ecumenical programs throughout the year. As a long-time member of the Interfaith Council of Hemlock Farms, JFHF fosters unity by working closely with the other houses of worship within Hemlock Farms and surrounding communities. JFHF is also an active affiliate member of the Jewish Federation of Northeastern Pennsylvania, contributing and providing support for local and national causes, as well as for the State of Israel, extending our hand in fellowship among Jews and all people. We welcome new members with outstretched arms and open hearts.
